Lyrics
Astroturf paradise,
isn't it nice, I would think twice
about playing on real grass
Well it may have class
But it ain't as fast
As my astroturf paradise
Astroturf paradise
In every way, and on every day
Well it always plays the same
No snow or rain
Will ruin our game
On this astroturf paradise
Give me plastic fields
of aquamarine
Not a patch of real grass
To be seen
What a dream
My astroturf paradise
Isn't it great, you almost can skate
Cross its laser-level pitch
Without a hitch
You'll make the switch
to my astroturf paradise
You old fashioned fools
Your field is obscene
With its patches of dull yellow green
Far better I've seen
But of course I'm keen
For my astroturf paradise
No slipping on mud
No shooting a dud
No strange smells or nasty stains
You hear what I'm sayin'?
It's hard to complain
Bout my astroturf paradise
Notes
I was out in Mongolia learning to sing to livestock and it was dry. There was just brown grass everywhere I could see, for months. Just dry. And I thought, all I wanted to do is see some something green- even astroturf would suffice. I said it kind of as a joke to myself, and then I realized that I knew someone who just loved astroturf, and that was really what they wanted to see. So I wrote a song from that perspective, sort of in honor of the lover of the astroturf. Which was great, because it took me out of my very cynical mindset.
