After All is Said and Done
After All is Said and Done
2020
Key of C
After all is said and done
After all the summer sun
I think of all the times we had
Of meals we made that made us glad
After all the tears are shed
After all of us are dead
What is left behind but stains of wine
And downspout droplets keeping time
After all is said and done
SOLO
Bridge
I'll clean your gutters, mop your floors
Hang your coat hooks, hold your doors
I went from thats enough to give me more
But after all the logs have burned
After all the pages turned
What is left besides my aching heart
And empty arms when we're apart
After all the aches and pain
And the truth goes down the drain
All I want is how we started out
A simple love to talk about
After all is said and done
SOLO
bridge
I'll move your boxes, hang your art
I'll fill your farmers market cart
I went from that’s enough
to wanting more
But after all the fights are done
And we've watched the setting sun
I ponder our two worlds apart
And wonder if a brand new start
Could mend a broken heart
Could hit the bullseye with the dart
Could make a difference, could convince you
Could make an old love shine like new
After all is said and done
Liner Notes
Never much for confontation, I was called the peacemaker on the playground, trying to break up the fights and find some common ground. When I let myself get carried away these days and a fight gets started I always regret it later. As a friend told me recently, it is when we believe that we’re worlds apart that the cycle begins. Here’s to finding a way to ending all the fights, after all is said and done.
